The ritual for the occasion is an elaborate one and it is quite generally conducted as a public ceremonial.
Elks National Hoop Shoot is a program where youths 8-13 participate in a free throw contest.
This contest is geared towards students in 5th through 8th grades to promote patriotism among young people.
Teenagers in both Junior High Schools and Senior High Schools and select an outstanding boy and girl at both levels each month.
